A new study from the CINE´s Low-Carbon Hydrogen division makes an important contribution to the sustainable and economical production of anodes for electrolyzers. The authors compared the impact of three heat treatment techniques on the properties of the anodes and their performance in water electrolysis. “The results of the study indicate that alternative methods have the potential to make anode production faster, more efficient, and more economically competitive,” says Professor Elton Sitta (UFSCar), a CINE researcher who led the work. The anodes obtained were successfully tested under conditions similar to those of electrolyzers operating with acidic water and seawater. Learn more.
First female Director of FEM – UNICAMP
Professor Katia Lucchesi Cavalca Dedini, a CINE researcher, has assumed the directorship of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FEM) at UNICAMP, becoming the first woman in this position in the unit’s more than 50-year history. Since graduating in Mechanical Engineering in the 1980s, Katia has witnessed a continuous evolution in the presence of women in this field. “Today, I see with great satisfaction a different attitude, with greater equality and, while still developing, much better each year,” says the researcher. Professor Ana Flávia Nogueira (UNICAMP), researcher and director of CINE, gave an invited lecture at the annual PRH-ANP-UFABC event – an initiative of the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) focused on the interdisciplinary training of human resources for the energy sector. Ana Flávia spoke about the challenges in the development of metal halide perovskites to an audience of students and researchers from different areas of knowledge. The lecture was given at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC) on May 29th. In addition to participating in the event, the scientist conducted a technical visit and meetings with Professor André Sarto Polo, who is also a researcher at CINE and works on perovskite solar cell projects.
Marilene de Jesus, executive manager of CINE, represented the Center at the inauguration ceremony of laboratory headquarters of CP2B, the São Paulo State Center for Studies in Biogas and Bioproducts. The event took place on May 29th at UNICAMP. CP2B is linked to the Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Planning (NIPE) at UNICAMP and works in human resource training, scientific development, and articulation with the productive sector in the area of bioenergy. The ceremony was attended by several authorities, such as the rector of UNICAMP, Paulo Cesar Montagner; the administrative director of FAPESP, Antonio José de Almeida Meirelles; the director of CP2B, Bruna Moraes; the coordinator of NIPE, Marcelo Pereira da Cunha; and the head of the Coordination of Interdisciplinary Research Centers and Nuclei (COCEN), Raluca Savu.
