Training entrepreneurs for the energy transition

Approximately 60 CINE members participated in a training event on the creation of innovative products and services based on scientific research. The program included presentations by six external speakers and three startups that are part of CINE. “We were able to plant seeds that could become businesses in the future,” said Professor Hudson Zanin (Unicamp), the CINE researcher who coordinated the organization of the event. Promising electrolytes for the batteries of the future

A new computational study has investigated in detail compounds based on ionic liquids with the aim of using them as electrolytes in promising sodium-ion batteries. The work was carried out by CINE members and collaborators from Germany. “The collaboration resulted in the development of new tools and the improvement of models, in addition to being fundamental for my training and career as a researcher,” said Tuanan Lourenço, a CINE postdoctoral fellow at IQSC-USP who spent 15 months in Germany developing this work. CINE + Cubo Itaú workshop on renewable fuels

Around 150 people participated in the first 2025 workshop of the CINE – Itaú partnership. The event featured presentations on opportunities and challenges in the production of biogas, biomethane and sustainable aviation fuel. “The activities we carried out within this partnership have had a real impact on the dissemination of scientific knowledge about the energy transition outside the academic environment”, highlighted Professor Ana Flávia Nogueira (Unicamp), Director of CINE. Brazilian mission to the Netherlands in the area of ​​green hydrogen

Members of the CINE executive committee participated in a mission to the Netherlands that included visits to companies and institutions in the low-carbon hydrogen sector, as well as participation in the world’s largest event dedicated to hydrogen. “The mission showed us that Brazil has a lot to offer, but also that it is time to act so that we do not miss this opportunity,” said Professor Ernesto C. Pereira (UFSCar), Principal Investigator of the Green Hydrogen division at CINE. Learn more.

New series of online seminars given by postdoctoral researchers

Twelve seminars on CINE research advances will be given by postdoctoral researchers until the end of this year. “The main objective of the CINE Talks is to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge among researchers, in addition to being spaces for the development of scientific communication, academic maturity and visibility for the young researchers who present the seminars,” says Professor Juarez L. F. Da Silva (IQSC-USP), Coordinator of Education and Dissemination of Knowledge at CINE. Learn more.

Seminar with distinguished speaker from Germany

The recording of “Living Libraries of Intermetallic Superatoms” is now available. The seminar was given on May 29th at IQSC-USP by the distinguished scientist Roland A. Fischer (h index = 110), professor of Inorganic and Metalorganic Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich. The lecture addresses an innovative strategy for developing new, more sustainable and efficient catalysts – a work that was carried out in collaboration with members of the Computational Materials Design division at CINE.
