Approximately 90 CINE members participated in a workshop that used a dynamic format to promote integration and collaboration among research groups. The event was held on September 12th at the School of Chemical Engineering (FEQ) at Unicamp.

“We hope that new contributions will emerge from the exchange of experiences we had, and that all researchers gained an overview of CINE and understood how their individual work is part of the whole,” says Professor Mateus Giesbrecht (Unicamp), coordinator of the event’s organizing committee.

Organized by the Energy Generation (EG) and Advanced Energy Storage (AES) programs, the workshop provided an interactive environment in which students of all educational levels and postdoctoral researchers working in these programs at CINE could present their work and learn about each other’s research.

“The workshop’s greatest challenge was ensuring that all the work from the EG and AES divisions was presented to all participants in just one afternoon,” explains Professor Mateus, who is also coordinator of the EG.

The solution created added a special dynamic to the workshop. In addition to the traditional scientific poster, each participant was required to create a short pitch video presenting their work. This allowed all participants to view all the posters while still presenting their own. Additionally, the organizers provided Post-it notes for visitors to leave messages and share contact information with the poster authors.

Afterward, participants were divided into ten groups. Each group analyzed a set of posters and videos in depth using an online form and selected the best of the works. In total, ten workshop papers were recognized. Finally, the poster, video, and analysis files were made available to all participants after the event.

According to PhD student Isabela Galantini, from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) at Unicamp, this format fostered dialogue between researchers from different fields, creating a collaborative environment. “It was an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss common challenges, and identify potential synergies between projects,” adds Isabela, who works within the AES program.

In addition to the poster session, which took place throughout the afternoon, the event featured general presentations on CINE’s four research programs. Lectures were given by researchers from each division. This part of the workshop took place in the morning in the FEQ auditorium.

“The workshop was an excellent opportunity to learn about the different lines of research and the activities developed in CINE’s programs,” says Andreia de Moraes, a postdoctoral fellow in the EG program at the Renato Archer Institute of Technology. “In addition to sharing my work, I was able to learn about innovative initiatives and see how each program contributes, in a complementary way, to the advancement of more efficient and sustainable energy generation and storage technologies,” adds Moraes.
