Approximately fifty research works conducted within CINE’s Computational Materials Design (CMD) division were presented on July 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th in an online event, held in English.

“This initiative is part of our strong commitment to developing highly qualified researchers at all levels, strengthening not only our science but also our ability to communicate it clearly and globally,” says Professor Juarez L. F. Da Silva (IQSC-USP), CMD Principal Investigator.

The workshop was attended by approximately 60 members of the division. Faculty, postdoctoral fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and external collaborators presented and discussed their advances in the computational study of materials for use in energy generation and storage.

“This event was crucial for unifying the CMD and getting everyone on the same page, given the addition of many new members to the division last semester,” says Professor Marcos Quiles (Unifesp), CMD Co-Principal Investigator and event organizer.

In the second phase of CINE, which is currently underway, the CMD division continues the efforts of the Computational Materials Science and Chemistry (CMSC) division, which was part of the first phase of CINE, from 2018 to 2023. “This was the second CMD event, but it’s important to emphasize that these workshops represent a continuation of the ten workshops held in the first phase,” explains Quiles.
