CINE participates in international summit on the future of energy

Members of CINE’s executive committee attended the Energy Summit, which brought together experts, entrepreneurs, and leaders from thirteen countries around the world to discuss the next steps in the energy transition. Held in Rio de Janeiro, the event attracted over ten thousand participants between June 24th and 26th.
“This type of event is crucial for expanding dialogue and cooperation between academia, industry, and governments, accelerating the implementation of technological solutions that is essential for a successful energy transition,” said Professor Hudson Zanin (Unicamp), who represented CINE at the summit alongside Professor Ana Flávia Nogueira (Unicamp), Director of the center.
“CINE has distinguished itself as a key player in the energy transition, with its ability to align cutting-edge scientific research with practical and innovative technological applications,” commented Zanin.
At the event, Professor Zanin, who leads CINE’s Advanced Energy Storage division, was one of the speakers on the panel discussion on the future of energy storage. The panel also included representatives from the Brazilian energy company Petrobras, the Center for Energy Studies at the Getulio Vargas Foundation, and Hyme, a Danish energy company.
In the discussion, the experts addressed technological advances in batteries and supercapacitors, the integration of storage systems with renewable sources, as well as economic prospects and regulatory challenges for large-scale adoption of these systems. “The audience was quite diverse, comprising researchers, energy industry representatives, investors, entrepreneurs, and public policymakers, which provided an extremely productive discussion rich in diverse perspectives,” says Zanin.
