CINE participates in a panel for an audience of executives, entrepreneurs and investors

CINE director Ana Flávia Nogueira participated in a panel discussion with Itaú Unibanco’s ESG leader, Luciana Nicola, about businesses aligned with the energy transition and the role of research in advancing this agenda.
The discussion took place on September 11th at the Cubo Itaú building, as part of Cubo Conecta, Cubo’s annual event that brings together technology executives, entrepreneurs, and investors from Latin America to foster connections and discussions. This year, approximately 1,500 people attended the event, which celebrated Cubo Itaú’s 10th anniversary.
During the discussion, CINE director Nogueira, who is also a professor at Unicamp, highlighted the important role of science in decarbonizing the economy and Brazil’s competitive position in this process. “Brazil has everything it needs to lead several aspects of the energy transition, such as the production of low-carbon hydrogen,” said Nogueira. “We have the necessary natural resources, a clean energy matrix, and high-quality science, but we need the participation of all three pillars (government, private sector, and academia) to develop a local industry; we need investment in technological innovation,” he added.
