diretores

The first director of CINE, Rubens Maciel Filho, and Ana Flavia Nogueira, who succeeded him in the position, talk about the main results achieved in the management of the Center since its creation: the implementation of an administrative structure, the internationalization of the Center, the establishment of education and dissemination programs…

Scientific results of the divisions

dec

The researchers of the Dense Energy Carriers division have advanced the development of materials and processes that allow hydrogen and other fuels to be produced sustainably, using sunlight as an energy source. Know more.

aes

The research division in advanced energy storage generated national know-how in the development and production of batteries and supercapacitors, in addition to implementing a unique infrastructure to continue advancing this strategic area. Know more.

m2p

In the research division dedicated to enable the conversion of methane into products, researchers developed new materials and equipment that make it possible to obtain compounds of industrial value, such as ethylene and methanol, through sustainable processes and using methane as a raw material. Know more.

cmsc

The members of the CINE’s computational science division have shortened the paths that experimental scientists can follow to develop the best materials for applications such as solar cells, batteries and conversion of greenhouse gases into chemicals. Know more.

Experiences of our young researchers

CHAYENNE

As a postdoc at CINE, Chayene Anchieta shined in leading high-impact work in the area of batteries. Today, she is working as a postdoc in Switzerland, but continues to collaborate with CINE, bringing in new international partners. Learn more.

rodrigo-5-anos

During his doctorate and postdoc, Rodrigo Szostak had access to cutting-edge equipment in Brazil and abroad that allowed him to uncover the secrets of perovskites to improve their performance in solar cells. The results yielded scientific articles of very high impact. Read more.

sabrina

Postdoc Sabrina Carvalho spent part of the pandemic in Germany developing techniques for producing membranes for CO2 separation. The experience was enriching from a personal and professional point of view and brought excellent scientific results. Read this report.

noticia

Within the context of CINE, doctoral student Carlos Rufino Junior developed solutions for the use and reuse of batteries. Today he is working on the same subject at an automotive research center in Germany. Find out more about this story.

jessica

PhD student Jessica Alvim began 2023 by participating in a major scientific conference and a technical visit in the United States, and ended the year in England with a doctoral stay at Imperial College London in photochemistry. Read this story.

gabriel

Participating in CINE conferences and workshops boosted Gabriel Pinheiro’s scientific work. Still in his master’s degree, he became the main author of the first paper in machine learning published in the context of the Center. Discover this story.
