{"id":12216,"date":"2025-09-10T14:28:30","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T17:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cine.org.br\/?p=12216"},"modified":"2025-09-12T19:15:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T22:15:11","slug":"avancos-do-cine-em-baterias-lio2-despertam-interesse-em-evento-no-japao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cine.org.br\/en\/avancos-do-cine-em-baterias-lio2-despertam-interesse-em-evento-no-japao\/","title":{"rendered":"CINE&#8217;s advances in LiO2 batteries spark interest at event in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CINE postdoctoral fellow Andr\u00e9 Navarro de Miranda attended the Japan Energy Summit &amp; Exhibition 2025, where he presented research on lithium-oxygen (Li-O\u2082) batteries carried out within CINE\u2019s Advanced Energy Storage (AES) division.<\/p>\n<p>The event, held in Tokyo from June 18 to 20, brought together approximately 6,000 participants from around the world, primarily executives, policymakers, and professionals from the energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>Lithium-oxygen batteries are promising because of their ability to store much larger amounts of energy than conventional batteries. \u201cSince 2018, CINE\u2019s AES division, based at Unicamp, has been dedicated to developing and improving this technology,\u201d says Andr\u00e9, who is a member of the division. \u201cDuring this time, we have developed several prototypes and advanced characterization methodologies,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<p>One of the main results achieved was the performance of operando studies \u2014 chemical analyses carried out in real time during the device\u2019s charge and discharge cycles. \u201cBy fully understanding how these batteries work, we can optimize the components and work toward a commercially viable prototype,\u201d the postdoctoral fellow explains.<\/p>\n<p>Andr\u00e9 gave a 15-minute presentation, followed by a 30-minute roundtable discussion with the audience and two other speakers. \u201cThe session\u2019s unique and dynamic format encouraged the exchange of ideas and an in-depth exploration of the topics,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>According to the postdoctoral fellow, CINE\u2019s advances attracted considerable interest. \u201cOn the academic side, the focus of discussion was on the technical challenges, especially the stability and life cycle of these batteries, which still need to be improved,\u201d he reports. \u201cFrom a commercial perspective, the main concern was economic viability, since the materials are not yet part of a consolidated supply chain, unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.japanenergyevent.com\/media\/psajxvvl\/japan-energy-summit-exhibition-2025-post-show-report.pdf\">Learn more about the event.<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CINE postdoctoral fellow Andr\u00e9 Navarro de Miranda attended the Japan Energy Summit &amp; Exhibition 2025, where he presented research on lithium-oxygen (Li-O\u2082) batteries carried out within CINE\u2019s Advanced Energy Storage (AES) division.
