CINE\u2019s Director, Ana Fl\u00e1via Nogueira, participated in a panel discussion on strategic minerals for the energy transition during S\u00e3o Paulo Climate Week (SPCW).<\/p>\n
Climate Week is a global event held in different parts of the world, bringing together debates, initiatives, and collaborations proposed by a wide range of social actors, with the goal of accelerating the transition to a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n
The panel \u201cRare Minerals and AI: Sustainable Innovation in the Global Supply Chain\u201d took place on August 4th at the Cubo Ita\u00fa auditorium, as part of the program organized by Cubo, a CINE partner.<\/p>\n
In addition to CINE\u2019s Director, the panel featured representatives from the mining company Vale; Saint-Gobain Brasil, which has been developing solutions related to strategic minerals; and the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI). The discussion was moderated by climate policy expert Jo\u00e3o Leal, from the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS).<\/p>\n
\u201cCINE\u2019s participation in this panel once again highlights the center\u2019s visibility,\u201d said Ana Fl\u00e1via.<\/p>\n
The panel attracted an audience of entrepreneurs, corporate executives, investors, and sustainability and innovation enthusiasts, both in person and via live streaming.<\/p>\n
In her remarks, the CINE Director emphasized the need for Brazil to place greater focus on its natural reserves of elements that are essential for a more sustainable world. She pointed to the country\u2019s significant reserves of rare earths and niobium oxide.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to enhance the value of these elements through research and innovation,\u201d she added, noting that CINE researchers are working on the application of rare earths in optoelectronic devices.<\/p>\n
