Low-carbon hydrogen production<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A new study by CINE has successfully addressed the challenge of producing efficient, low-cost catalysts based on Earth-abundant chemical elements for water splitting. The method involves introducing defects into an inexpensive material using a simple process. “The catalysts developed in this study represent a promising step toward large-scale low-carbon hydrogen production,” says Professor Juliano A. Representing scientific community in Energy Fund<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

CINE Director Ana Flavia Nogueira (Unicamp) was appointed a member of the steering committee of the Energy Sector Fund, an agency affiliated with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation that finances RDI projects in the energy sector. Prof. Ana Flavia will participate in the definition, monitoring, and evaluation of investment plans. She aims to encourage the development of national technologies for a low-carbon economy. Professor Lucia Helena Mascaro (UFSCar), a researcher at CINE, was elected Vice President of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE), which has 3,000 members from approximately 70 countries across all continents. During her term, the scientist will strengthen interactions between global regions and encourage the advancement of strategic areas, such as the application of electrochemistry to the energy transition<\/span><\/span>. Award-winning poster at international conference<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pedro Ivo R. Moraes, a postdoctoral researcher at CINE, received an award from the Royal Society of Chemistry for a computational study on catalysts for low-carbon hydrogen production, which he presented at one of the largest international events on Theoretical and Computational Chemistry.
