Technology for electric cars fueled by ethanol<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

In an article that has just been published in the Journal of Energy Chemistry, CINE researchers and collaborators provide a detailed review of the advantages and challenges of a promising fuel cell technology, MS-SOFCs, which enables a car that combine the advantages of an electric vehicle with the convenience of fueling it with a widely available biofuel. \u201cOur study highlights that MS-SOFCs represent a promising solution for the decarbonization of mobility, and could be an impactful alternative for the electrification of this sector,\u201d says Professor Gustavo Doubek (Unicamp), one of the CINE researchers who led the work. New CINE scientific team<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

More than 200 researchers from various fields of knowledge, linked to 11 Brazilian universities and research institutes, are working on the 15 research and development projects that are underway in the second phase of CINE. This scientific team includes more than 100 students who are carrying out their doctoral, master’s and undergraduate research in the context of our center, which offers a privileged environment for professional development in technologies for the energy transition and decarbonization. \u201cWe hope that CINE will continue to evolve in its leading and pioneering role of training and specializing professionals and researchers who are so necessary for the energy transition,\u201d says CINE Deputy Director Camila Brand\u00e3o (Shell). 10,000 citations in five and a half years<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CINE’s scientific production reached an important milestone at the end of 2024. The set of articles published since the center’s creation received more than 10,000 citations. In five and a half years, CINE members and their collaborators reported the results of research projects in around 600 scientific articles that were published in indexed international journals. \u201cThese data demonstrate the global scientific community’s recognition of CINE’s contributions to the advancement of knowledge in strategic areas,\u201d says Professor Juarez L. Scientific immersion for girls<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Members of CINE organized several activities to bring science closer to high school students and teachers in the context of the Brazilian program “Future Scientists”. The activities, held at the Institute of Chemistry at Unicamp, included a chat with female scientists, a workshop on 3D printing and visits to laboratories. \u201cThe students were able to discover how today’s research is shaping the future of energy generation and storage,\u201d says Camila Pedroso, Education and Dissemination of Knowledge Analyst at CINE, who participated in leading the activities.
